Clip, clip, clop, clip! It was an annoying south honestly but the brute did his best to let the expression on his handsome face stay neutral. While he looked like a very fine southern gentleman he was trouble in a wondering wrapping. He knew that he was so a slick fella but other needn't know that. This was his first time in this region although he probably had a reputation that spread out through out the land. Oh he was no young colt at this game though; he'd never use his name for sure. Gent was the alias that he used to keep those rich ladies off his trail.
He was the type of male to stick around while it was going good for the lady and then scram the moment an 'I love you' or mention of a foal came up. He wasn't a settled creature and he didn't want to settle down. Of course that might have been selfish to do so but he had no care about it after he was gone. It was just another pass lady friend whom he would avoid for the rest of his life. Among his not so good qualities he was a good fighter and when he wanted something badly enough he would put his whole heart in. Otherwise he couldn't give two winks about something though sadly. It was part of his many issues.
Charming, sly, clever, strong and well of course he was handsome. He arched his neck and chuckled quietly to himself at his thoughts rolling his eyes and continuing on walking along the cobblestone streets before picking up to a prancey trot catching more then a few eyes. He snorted and shook his mane as his blue optics scanned the area. Plenty of wealthy ladies here but he figured he was going to most certainly stick around and scope out for a while. He had gotten himself a room in a building not to far off from here in exchange for running a few errands for the owner. She was an older mare whom he assumed had lived here her entire life by how comfortable she was. She lived just next to him in the house to the left.
As of right now though he had already finished the errands and he was simply taking a stroll. As it was a city there was little room to run. The houses were all connected to each other, side by side, and back to back, leaving it a maze of streets, shops, and a few little courtyards with small bits of grass and gardens. While it was certainly nice he did long for some of the more open places he had stayed. But then again they hadn't been as nice as this was. His little house was two floors and he was rather comfortable there thanks to it being a quiet street. But now he was headed closer to the more busy areas in curiosity of this strange city. He had heard of the southerns just getting their first female leader which had sent many into mixed feelings. Some said about time and others said they were very displeased. Really it made no difference to him. Leaders were leaders; they were all the same.

the golden city had enchanted her since she'd first put a hoof on the paved roads. now she was one of the most important equines in the south. such a big jump. it had to have been little more than two years since she'd arrived in this place of peace and tranquility. sadly, there was very little tranquility for her. the buzz of thoughts stayed in the back of her head like muffled static, slowly causing her head to ache with the constant noise. she could not shut it out completely, they were always constant; the thoughts. somehow she'd need to find a way to adapt. she could not longer pass in and out of the city willy-nilly. it had become her permanent residence. a lavish room in the largest, most beautiful building in the city had her name on it, and every single horse in the south was relying on her leadership.
she let out a sigh, attempting to shake away the pressured thoughts of her new career. she'd come out for a pleasant walk on the roads to at least clear her head of politics. the city was a wonder, and she often just liked to walk about with no real destination in mind. if only she could do it alone. the council had decided that, because some equines were unhappy with her election, it would be safer for her if there were guards nearby at all times. apparently she was very susceptible to attack. they didn't know she could sense an attacker before she was in any real danger. her power of telepathy was not one she shared willingly. it was a close personal secret.
she wasn't paying much attention to those she passed, their thoughts just blending together and becoming undecipherable babble. there was one thought that seemed to stand out and caught her attention. it was of someone she had just passed, walking merely inches from him. therese stopped and turned, quickly locating the stag that seemed to be catching everyone's attention. "excuse me." she said with sweet lyrics. "are you new to the city, by any chance?" she trotted after the brute, attempting to keep sight of him within the crowds. she tried to dig too deep within his mind, just staying within the outer layer of thoughts, hearing them as they came and went. she already knew he had not been in the city long, but she didn't wish to make him uncomfortable by simply reading his thoughts.

He had to admit that one of the most annoying things was infact the sound of his pale daggers clacking on the cobblestone as he moved about along the city streets. It was even worst when it was constant with the movement honestly. It was like a thousand tap dancers all clicking and clacking out of tune with each other. He grunted and pinned his ears a little before feeling like someone was following him. Ugh. This was annoying already. The sudden sound of lyrics from the crowd appeared to be directed towards him but he didn't really make out what was being sad. After all the clacking was hard to get past.
It appeared that she was going to follow him and bug him some more. He hated the clingy mares who just seemed to suck onto you like leeches. What ever. He snorted and tossed his head a little continuing on forward having no comprehension that she was the czarina of the south. He felt something brush up against him though he didn't know that it was really her reading the out reaches of his mind. He snorted and halted turning around to see the lovely chestnut mare he had seen passing by. ”Yes?” he asked her raising an eyebrow at her and snorting. He swished his pale tail and twitched his nose wanting to know what in the world this mare wanted with him. He wasn't about to be put away in a box for some little royal mare.

her presence almost seemed to annoy him. what was that word he used? "leech"? how interesting. she was able to get a general idea of this stallion's character already, the arrogant attitude came out nice and strong just from what she could gather from passing thoughts. therese never did enjoy hearing the thoughts of every horse around her. not only could it be distracting and even hindering, it was uncomfortable and she often got too much information than she wanted. it was harder to ignore the minds of others when she was in direct conversation with them and they had a more outgoing personality. those horses, like this stud, seemed a little louder to her.
finally he gave in and turned to face her on the crowded street. equines streamed both ways around them, providing not only physical noise, but mental as well. she still managed to hear the reply of the stag, both in her ears and her mind. "so sorry to bother you, but i just wondered if you were relatively new to the city?" she'd become so used to polite, respectful comments that were drastically different from the true thoughts behind them that having a horse speak with just a hint of attitude was almost refreshing. she was tired of insults and complain only thought, never spoken, and she hated having to hear them all the time. politics was a nasty game to play and could often get ugly. it was a tense time with her election still recent, and tessa knew very well that many in the south were not a fan of her.

He snorted and tossed his head continuing forward in an attempt to get the annoying sounds of equines tap dancing on the streets. It was far better once he had managed to lead them off to a little more quiet street where a few were traveling but not nearly as many. His eyes looked the mare up and down mentally shrugging. She was a pretty kind he supposed but appeared to be more strong type so he was assuming she wouldn't be looking for a stallion. Meh he wasn't interested honestly. ”Yeah I'm new. What's it to ya?” he asked tossing his foretresses out of his eyes. He could see the look of the two guards near her seeming completely unpleased by his attitude. He sneered at them and whipped his tail back and forth.
He wasn't trying to be disrespectful but hey when someone just randomly walked up to him and began asking questions what reaction did they think that they would get. He grumbled quietly to himself and tossed his head a little as he continued to walk on refusing to stop and talk face to face with her for the simple reason of his legs were getting tired of just standing. He felt like he had been cooped up inside that house for months when it had only been days. There really weren't places to run here like he was used to so he was unsure of how these horses weren't either hog fat or even got used to it.

he seemed quite determined to leave her behind and avoid her attempts to engage him in conversation. she found it frustrating, but tess would not give that quickly. she would hate to bother him when he was busy, but since she already knew he wasn't she didn't feel so bad. "simply curiosity. i'm just trying to be friendly." she frowned as he started to walk away once more, though not with the intention of irritating her, though it did to some extent. how rude, to simply walk away while someone was trying to speak to him. still, she didn't give up defeat that easily.
she hurried after him, falling into step beside him and keeping pace. she could tell the noise and confined space of the busy streets did not please him. the noise was easy enough to get rid of when you knew where to go within the city walls, but open spaces were harder to find. the only one she knew of in the city was the courtyard of the palace where she would often find solace from the stress of politics. "i know a place a bit quieter we can chat if it interests you." the clopping of hooves was quiet deafening. as if the clutter of thoughts constantly didn't give her enough of a headache, now this jumble of noise was adding to the pressure on her conscious.
without even checking the studs thoughts to see whether he would be following her or not, therese made a sharp turn down a small side street with far less horses crowding it. she immediately sensed the buzz of the guards' minds snap into action as they hurried to follow her movements and predict her chosen path and secure her safety. she found it silly that they worried so much.

As the femme said that she was simply curious he rolled his eyes and snorted. Well from his experience curiosity could get you in a heap of trouble. He had found that out the hard was many times as a youngster nosing around in places that he shouldn't have. Of course he had lived in a rather dangerous land full of crocodiles, jaguars, and even large snakes that could snatch a small foal if they were in the wrong place. It had been a marsh land full of many little island that was dangerous to cross at the best of times. Honestly he was glad to be rid of it but this wasn't almost much better with the noise. At least there it was somewhat quiet.
As she fell in step with him he glanced at her from the corner of his eye attempting to at least find a place that had some silence around here. As the mare mentioned knowing a more quiet face he was unsure. He assumed she was of some importance to have herself a few buff guards. They were annoying to say the least trying to look all imposing and staring him down like he was some kind of threat that only they knew about. He turned around a made a face making one of the brutes pin his ears back and look as though he was going to take a snap at Hyena's hind quarters. But the brute had already dashed forward after the mare which seemed to irrate the creatures more.
It gave him an odd sense of pleasure annoying these brutish stallions who appeared to just have something against him. But hey what were they protecting their lady from? He sure as hell wasn't some big bad tough guy looking to beat her down and such. All he was looking for was a little peace and quiet. He had never lived in a city such as this so things were bizarre to him. Hyena growled as one of the brutes stepped on his heel coming forward to far on purpose causing him to kick out at the other brute with a squeal hating the close quarters. He couldn't help be claustrophobic.

she knew her guards could get quite bored simply watching her all the time. they were there to protect her, but there was little to protect her from except crowded streets and maybe a puddle here and there. they knew it was unnecessary to be paranoid about every little thing, but it seemed they couldn't help but be a bit "overly cautious" when she started a conversation with a stranger. what they were doing was more harassment, but if she brought it up with the head of the guard that was how they would defend themselves. just trying to keep their lady safe.
she could hear the pale brute catching up, and already knew the incident was going to happen before the guard instigated it. now that was unacceptable. she turned to make eye contact with the guard, make her message clear before continuing on with a snort. goodness, they were like untrained dogs sometimes. little more than rebellious colts. why they had been chosen to protect her she would never know. "i do hope you'll forgive them, it seems they need a bit more training." though she knew and he knew that it had not been a true accident, the guards would get off with barely a slap on the wrist and a "be more careful" from their superior despite this intolerable behavior.
the side street she had taken, more like an alley, opened up to another large road, though this one more residential. far less crowded, foals played here and there looked upon by parents. "i'm therese, who are you?" her guards couldn't hide as well here and felt a bit out of place in the open. she did get a few stares for it, a few suspicious thoughts, but nothing to worry her.

He snorted at her comment about the guards needing more training. Well wasn't that the damn truth! They were quite unruly for his tastes. As they wandered through the dark little alley way he couldn't help but wonder whom she could be with the pair of guards following her around. Was he so lucky he was stumble upon someone of some importance? Was he in love with her looks? Not really. Truthfully he wasn't a fan of chestnuts but over all he supposed she was pretty in a more...tough sort of way? If that was even the word. Either way he wasn't that interested in her for anything of his normal nature.
When she introduced herself he instantly knew who she was although he wasn't about to bow or act like she was an oh holy goddess of some sort that he would bow down to on his knees. ”Hyena. I just arrived here not to long ago.” he informed the mare with a nod although she got little more then that. He glanced over at her guards as they seemed to be experiencing some level of paranoia from being out in the open.
