Although the mare and foal had taken a short time to fall asleep it was not so simple for Dragon. He was taught in his training that apologizing was a sign of weakness but really he wasn't sure he felt like it. Yes it was an awful thing that had happened to her and yes he had done but but in reality it hadnt turned out awful. They had their beautiful daughter and whether or not she wanted another foal was up to her. He wouldnt force it upon her further. It had simply been a moment of weakness in where panic had set in telling him that he would be alone forever. Maybe after the filly could be away from her mother he would allow the mare to leave. Then maybe the filly could come and visit from time to time and if not he would be pleased to know somewhere out there was another being who did at least carry his genes. Other then that it wasn't up to him what the pair did.
When sleep finally did come he was still standing and his neck was outstretched while his head bobbed slightly with the heavy breaths of his chest. He had yet to notice the little filly whom was about to snatch up his forelock until she leaned against his strong sturdy shoulder. He snorted and squealed a short noise in surprise at the filly's antics before he craned his neck around to look at her. He nudged her ribcage gently and shook his head making his foretresses flop against his broad forehead. He grinned a little and nipped at her withers gently hoping that maybe she would want to play today. Foals had always been a weak spot of his. His auds flicked forward and his nares flared suddenly sending his neck whipping around back outside listening to the wings beats. Dammit. Someone was coming. It wasn't until he saw the large black brute that he knew who it was. As the stag landed he began making his climb towards them.
”Well my old friend what have we here.” said the northern king to his smaller companion. Dragon stood silently looking up at his king as the stag trotted up to the mouth of the cave. ”I would have come sooner had it not been for the weather.” he informed the other leaning down to sniff the filly paying not a second thought to the new mother who was laying in the straw. She was little more then a foot note to him.
”Speeeeech!”

thetis backed away with a snort when he woke up, surprised by his surprise. the nudge and nip fazed her for just a moment before she charged right back at him, snapping wildly for the fluffy bit of hair. thetis didn't like to be taunted, and she wasn't one to just give up either. she was stubborn like that. she didn't really care whether she grabbed hair or ear, just as long as she got something.
something heavy landing on the ground managed to catch her attention. still leaning against her father's shoulder for support, she looked towards the entrance of the cave, completely taken aback by what entered. she wasn't sure how to react, but when it reached out to touch her she squealed and settled on fleeing and hiding. she placed all four hooves back on the ground and dived under her father, seeing him as the best closest hiding place. she peaked out from between the brute's pillars as...something entered. something huge. even bigger than her mother. it looked similar to her parents, but it was so...big.
it did annoy val to be passed over so easily, but perhaps it was a blessing. her best guess was this stud was the king of the north, and she didn't exactly want any attention from him. as long as he didn't hurt her daughter she would tolerate his presence. she laid her head back down on the straw, trying not to pay attention to their conversation but still listening to her daughter.

He chuckled as the little filly chraged at him doing her best to grab anything her little gums could get a hold of. She managed to get his forelock at first and then she snatched his ear which he wasn't worried about since she had no teeth right now. It was innocent for the time being at least. The brute wasn't worried about the filly for sure as he booped her check with his nose snorting playfully and nudging her fore limb. Dragon kept one eye on his friend and the other on his daughter as the filly seemed to be fearful of the brute. When she finally fled and hid he was shocked that she had hidden with him but he had no problems with it. He would keep her safe from the 'big black blob' that HellBorn's ex queen had often called him.
Dragon reached around to nuzzle the filly to reassure her. He didnt want her afraid of the other stag so much as cautious. He wasn't over trusting himself of others so he didnt expect her to be. HellBorn snorted and glanced over at the mare sneering at her before turning his attention back to his companion. ”Well I had to come see for myself that you really had a foal of your own. Although it would be better suited if the mare was of northern blood.” he scoffed rolling his eyes. Dragon kept a straight face as his friend talked and then snorted softly. ”Well as you can see it certainly hasn't hindered her so I wouldn't worry.” he retorted to his old companion defending Val. Of course HellBorn just brushed it off interested in the filly that was hiding beneath his friend.
”What interesting little stripes she has. And it looks like she will have wings one day." he said seeming impressed by the filly.
”Speeeeech!”

from under dragon, thetis couldn't see much more than the black brute's legs, and that wasn't very interesting. she stretched her neck to get a better look, but from under her father the new horse just looked big. she noticed his big black wings, just like her mother's. she shuffled forward a bit to sniff at the stag, curious about which one of her parents he smelled more like. if she had to decide, it would be her father. they smelled different, but similar. not like her mother, her mother didn't smell similar to any of them.
thetis didn't really understand what had passed between the two brutes. she could neither talk nor understand words just yet, but she was good at picking up emotions and tones. she wanted to know what they were saying, to understand what was going, but her wish lasted for only a moment as her simple child mind quickly turned its attention to something else. she'd managed to shuffle close enough to the large brute to reach out and touch him, though she had yet to remove herself from the safety of her father's underside.
val did manage to catch the few comments made about her and how it was quite obvious that the king was less than pleased with her. she pretty much expected dragon to either go along with him or not say anything at all. he was the king after all, it wouldn't be smart to deny him. she was shocked to hear him defend her, and just added more evidence to prove the point that he was not at all what she had expected him to be.

The black stag sniffed the filly as she finally emerged again interested in which alliance she would join in the end. Of course the little filly could very well just wander off into the east and become some dumb blood or what ever. HellBorn how ever hoped that she would stay and join the ranks of the north. She was certainly pretty enough to be married off to a higher ranking stallion. HellBorn knew it would take some tricking to get the filly out from under her already protective father but he would manage. He would make sure she would carry and Northern foal before she left if she ever did.
The ebony stag arched his neck while his ears prick forward, touching end to end, wings flexing. Dragon watched the brute knowing he had seen him murder foals he didn't approve of. HellBorn was unpredictable at the best of times and could even easily trick others seeming pleased before he just suddenly would whip around and tear someones head off. Dragon flared his nares softly eyes scanning over the other's body to see if he was getting ready to even move the tiniest muscle. ”HellBorn..” he growled softly to bring the other's attention away from the foal and onto himself.
”I think Thetis has had enough stimulation for this morning with you coming here. She just woke up. I think she could probably get something to eat and then maybe she will want to nap. You should probably go.” the smaller blue one said watching as the ebony stag's expression darkened into a scowl. "Hmph fine. I'll see you and your little pet soon I'm sure.” he hissed before turning and taking off out of the cave. Dragon released the breath he had been holding in watching for the other to disappear out of sight.

thetis snorted at the big black brute as he sniffed her, hiding behind one of her father's thick legs. words came from the body she hid under, but thetis didn't understand any of it. all she knew was attention had been drawn away from her, and she was hungry. she looked towards her mother, still laying in the grass bed, but was hesitant to run to her dam with the black beast still present within the cave. it wasn't long before he turned and left, however. thetis took a few steps out from under her father, stretching her legs, and checking to make sure the big horse was really gone. satisfied with her finding, thetis scampered over to her mother, leaping over the black mare and snuggling back up against her in the grass.
valkyrie let out a sigh of relief as she heard the black stag finally leave. he made her uneasy, and she definitely didn't want him around her foal. she nuzzled the chestnut filly, reassuring herself that her daughter was safe. with a grunt, val got to her feet so thetis could nurse, and it didn't take long for the filly to start guzzling down her mother's milk. she looked towards dragon for a moment, unsure of what he would do if she voiced her opinion about his "friend". they hadn't seemed so friendly just then. she was grateful to him for keeping their daughter safe and not just handing her over to the brute to do what he wished. she'd have to remember to make herself scarce whenever the king came down from his mountain to visit.
thetis soon finished her breakfast, and val almost hoped the little filly would settle down for a nap, but thetis ran straight for the cave entrance, leaping past her father as she did so. val sighed, she wasn't too keen to go back out into the cold, but followed her daughter anyway. it certainly looked different in the daytime, even though the light was dimmed by cloud cover. thetis was certainly intrigued with everything in sight.
